So this is my scarf. I spun the yarn on a handspindle from a Border-Leicester and hand-dyed mohair roving, then Andean plied it. The final measurments are about 22 wpi. I finished the yarn with a hot water bath and shampoo, then let it dry unweighted. I wound the yarn into balls by hand and knit them on size 6 needles in the feather and fan lace pattern. (*k2tog 3 times, yo knit 6 times, k2tog 3 times, repeat from *) I worked on 38 st, but you could add pattern repeats if working in very fine yarn.

This scarf was modeled on "misty garden" by Jo Sharp in Pam Allen's Scarf Style, but uses my yarn at a smaller gauge. I didn't make a swatch because I didn't care how big it would be, so use your best judgement if using another yarn.

I worked on this during the crazy month of July, during my class and all the travelling and my Grandmother's funeral. It's become really important to me as a symbol and I feel proud of my achievement.

I'm not giving any excuses for my failure to write.

Today was good for tying up loose ends. I (mercifully) received another paycheck, which I deposited, meeting a nice lady at the credit union. Went to see KW, but she wasn't in her office. I really want to give her the scarf I made for her.

Went to the yarn shop, Tina forgot her camera, but we improvised with my phone. I wrote a blurb on the back of an envelope about the scarf, the spinning, etc. She wants to post it as inspiration for other spinners and knitters. Maybe I'll write something on it here later.

Tina went out for coffee, I gave her a five for a latte but she decided to treat me. I was a little surprised, but Tina is that sweet. If anyone reads this, go to Yarns Etc. in Greensboro. Of course, I didn't get out of there without a new project: red and white Lamb's Pride worsted for a hat for Elizabeth and a set of sz. 8 circulars. I think I want to do some sort of nordic pattern; I've been reading too much Elizabeth Zimmerman. They'll probably be enough for a contrasting hat for Mitchell, too. I'd also like to make them the zebra and lamb scarves I've got patterns for.

Magistra Holt took me to dinner tonight at Positano. We had the same waitress as the first time and boy did we enjoy ourselves. We shared a caprese plate, I had a chicken vegetable soup, chicken portofino with asparagus and capellini, Ann had the rotisserie chicken and garlic spinach. We had a nice red wine, but I can't remember what it was. Of course, we finished with cappucino. Coffee twice in one day, I'm starting to not recognize myself.

It was nice to catch up with her. We've both had terrible years, even though we're both getting back to where we want to be, at least geographically. She's supportive of my pending unemployment, which is a relief to me. She also understands my family situation thoroughly and has insight that I'm too dim to figure out for myself.

I've really got to get packing tomorrow or Jamie's going to flip when he gets here. I just can't stand the thought of all of it. I think that if I write down my goals, I'll be somehow bound to them, so here they are:
1. Recycling, a monumental task.
2. Bedroom miscellany
3. Little room closet
4. Utility closet. That I might tackle this task tomorrow is pure lunacy.

I hope to check in tomorrow to see how it goes.
